Freenet uses multiple degrees of routing obfuscation to hide one user from another and encryption to hide what is being exchanged. Keep in mind that 100% anonymity is virtually impossible to achieve and that all encryption is theoretically breakable.

 

Freenet's probabilistic decrement does not work at all in the fashion described in that paper (which is largely copy and paste from other documents including Wikipedia).

Yes the feds can run a Freenet peer and try to eavesdrop on what requests they get but Freenet is designed so that you won't know that.

Let's Share Freenet Node References! For the uninformed-- Freenet users can form meshnets over the internet by sharing their node references. We can use these to "friend" each other. The best way to share these node references is with a service like pastebin so that the information doesn't get mangled when posted. Here's mine:

Freenet is by far the best anonymity protector. what is great about freenet is that fact that you can never know what is in your datastore and it is a completely closed network so the people there are all there by choice and mutual interest. There is lots of good content there other than porn in all it's nefarious forms - but then that is no different on I2P or TOR. Always good discussion ...

 

Freenet is rather old. I don't understand why this is being linked now though it did let me see the new homepage.
