World Environment Day is the biggest international day for the environment. Led by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and held annually since 1973 it has grown to be the largest global platform for environmental outreach. It is celebrated by millions of people across the world.

 

The United Nations designated 5 June as World Environment Day to highlight that the protection and health of the environment is a major issue which affects the well-being of peoples and economic development throughout the world.

 

World Environment Day was established in 1972 by the United Nations at the Stockholm Conference on the Human Environment (5?16 June 1972) following discussions on integrating human activities with the environment.

 

World Environment Day is the United Nations day for encouraging worldwide awareness and action to protect our environment.
