A portable program is one that is "self-contained" so that the only file it needs is the executable which is why it works being run from OneDrive. I have a folder on OneDrive named "Portable" that I put portable executables into that I can then access on any computer that I have setup with OneDrive. Works very well.

 

I am wondering is it possible to create a second "Program Files" location on another drive that Windows will still count as the "Program Files" directory? I can't see any other way to install this software. Buying a 2TB SSD is a bit outside of my budget at the moment. During install there should be a Custom option or something similar.

I am using Windows 10 Home up-to-date. Just found this entry (Program) in my Task Manager-Startup Programs. It has no identification except 'Program'

Program Data can accumulate trash just like Appdata and is an area that needs scrutiny. This would be the only reason someone would want to go there. Although I think their question was more about what is \??\ on top of the regular DOS path. Its just NT vs DOS semantics because DOS won't be able to handle Objects like how NT can.

 

Hello I've noticed a suspicious program labeled just "Program" in the Windows 10 Startup menu with no extension or description whatsoever. Does anyone know if it's safe to remove it and how to remove it? Thanks.
