PuTTY is a communications tool for running interactive command-line sessions on other computers usually via the SSH protocol. It can also communicate over a serial port or speak various legacy Internet protocols such as Telnet.

PuTTY is a free software SSH client for Windows and also Unix including an xterm -style terminal emulator. It is written and maintained primarily by Simon Tatham.

 

We also publish the latest PuTTY installers for all Windows architectures as a free-of-charge download at the Microsoft Store; they usually take a few days to appear there after we release them.
