This document describes MySQL Installer an application that simplifies the installation and updating process for a wide range of MySQL products including MySQL Workbench and MySQL Shell.

 

There are different methods to install MySQL on Microsoft Windows: the MSI the standard binary distribution (packaged as a compressed file) containing all of the necessary files that you unpack and source files to compile MySQL yourself.

 

MySQL Installer can install and manage multiple separate MySQL server instances on the same host at the same time. For example MySQL Installer can install configure and upgrade separate instances of MySQL 5.7 and MySQL 8.0 on the same host.
