How to open multiple instances of Word 365? I need to open 10 instances of Word but I am able to open maximally 2 instances. How can I open more than two? I open the second instance via Start > right click on the Word icon > Run as administrator. Or Ctrl+Shift > click on the Word icon > Run as administrator.

 

I have tried opening the affected documents in Word 2016 2013 and 2010. Any documents created in these three versions open without issue in all versions of Word mentioned here including M365 Word.

 

Red icon for word files? Windows 10 Home version 22H2 OS build 19045.2846 For no reason I can figure out something strange has suddenly happened to many of my Word files. They open fine but in the Word file screen they have an unusual red icon (see image). What does that mean? The documents do not seem corrupted but obviously I am worried. Thanks.

 

The Office install was February 2023. I left Word opened and this morning I see a blank screen. I had been using it on Sunday and had closed and opened it several times. I left the blank screen open and minimized it and then opened a new instance using the Word Desktop icon and it shows the normal screen with the toolbar etc.

 

Office is automatically maximizing all minimized documents I Work with Word 2007 both on Windows 7 desktop and Windows 10 laptop. I do not have the issue in Windows 7. In Windows 10 however if I have a minimized document in word and open a new word document both the new and the minimized document are opened/maximized. Same happens in excel.

 

Annoying popup every time I open a Word document Hello all I have Office 2019 build 2109 and I have saved some Word documents on my personal OneDrive storage and every time I open one of them a pop up comes up saying that others are editing this document and whether I would like to automatically share my changes.

 

Word opening files as Document1 Document2 If I double-click on a Word file from Explorer Word opens but instead of opening the actual file for viewing or editing it opens multiple copies and they're named Document1 Document2 etc. If I right-click on the file and pick "open" then the file will properly - that file that name.

 

Opening Word documents & word itself. With in the past week I have a problem opening word documents or the word itself. When I click on either it brings up my MS office home and student 2010 then starts a configuration process that after some time will either give me a blank doc. or my actual saved documents.

If your Word icon indicates the window should be open somewhere (if not click on it so it does) but you can't see a window then it may be that the open window is lost somewhere off the edge of your desktop sometimes these coordinates get messed up. Try right-clicking on the taskbar and selecting 'Cascade windows'.
