Many of the cysts (9/25) caused enlargement of the cervix. Representative cases are presented with a discussion of the pathogenesis of nabothian cysts and their clinical significance.

 

We depend on ultrasound in a large number of patients because it is an excellent fast safe and inexpensive method for assessing size shape and determining abnormalities of uterus and both ovaries. Nabothian cyst is one of the causes of infertility which can assess by ultrasound.

 

On ultrasound a typical nabothian cyst appears as a single round lesion with smooth borders. The cyst lacks any solid components and posterior acoustic enhancement is possible. Assessing the uterus and ovaries with ultrasound can help confirm the benign nature of an incidental nabothian cyst.

 

A nabothian cyst (or nabothian follicle) can appear as a small bump or bumps on the cervix which can range in colour from white or pale yellow to amber. Occasionally nabothian cysts are identified on a pelvic ultrasound scan.

 

Symptomatic nabothian cysts may occur as a late complication of subtotal hysterectomy due to internalization of the transformation zone and partial obliteration of the cervical canal (J Reprod Med 1999;44:567)

 

US features Nabothian cysts are typically seen as echogenic small cysts (usually a few millimetres in size) without vascularity and well-defined margins on US (Figure 7).

 

Nabothian cysts are common enough though that doctors can usually identify them and rule out cancer right away. If there?s a question your provider can remove the cyst and test the fluid inside to be sure that it?s a nabothian cyst and not cancer.
