Solved: How do I convert and IFC file to a DWG file in AutoCAD Architecture 2020?

 

I'll leave it up to others to judge this. I'm only familiar with the basic product AutoCAD. It's probably best to create the ifc with the respective product. If that doesn't work or you need an .ifc with all the data together you'll probably need native AutoCAD DWG files and do it from Revit. But as I said I'm not trained in this topic.

Also Revit does not recognise the type of object (if I open the IFC file using notepad I can view that it belongs to "IFCFURNISHINGELEMENT" yet in Revit that object does not have a family or a type). Is there a way to import an IFC object to a Revit project?

Hi  it is shown that Acrobat Reader can open IFC files. I have Acrobat Reader DC and can not open it do I have to have some kind of extension?

To avoid this problem I convert the IFC file into RVT using the open IFC command. Then I linked the converted RVT file but the conversion engine is different and you may find some differences. Regarding using Navisworks you can convert IFC into NWC and in Revit use the link coordination model.
