COPENHAGEN - The Nordic governments intend to step up their cooperation to return immigrants without legal residence in the region to their countries of origin ministers from the five countries said in a joint press conference in Copenhagen on Tuesday.

 

Nordic migration and justice ministers on Tuesday announced a deal which will see the five countries share flights to return foreigners who have had asylum claims rejected back to their homelands.

 

The number of immigrants and descendants in each country is of course dependent on national immigration policies but is also related to population size and thus capacity of each country to receive refugees as well as to attract foreign students and migrant workers.

 

Their flags might share similarities but their immigration policies do not: Europe's Nordic countries have experienced various changes relating to asylum and immigration matters in recent months.
