Pattadakal formerly known as Raktapura is a small town in the Bagalkot district of north Karnataka India. It is famous for its UNESCO world heritage site. [1][2] Pattadakal region was settled in pre-historic times as evidence by megalithic dolmens.

 

Pattadakal had once been the rich capital of the Chalukyas. During 7th - 8th century Pattadakal Temples were got constructed by the Chalukya rulers. Portraying the rare specimen the temples depict a wonderful blend of Dravidian (South-Indian) and Nagara (North-Indian) architectural styles.
