The Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic claims the whole Western Sahara a territory most of which is currently occupied by Morocco. SADR control some part of the territory called the Free Zone.

In 1976 the Polisario Front declared a Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic in Bir Lahlou. In 1979 Mauritania gave up its claim to Western Sahara which led to Morocco taking over the Mauritanian-controlled portion of the territory.

 

The Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic is a self-declared state with a government in exile claiming all of Western Sahara. However the government only has control over about 20% of the territory.

 

The Sahrawi Arab Democratic (SADR) also known as the Saharan Arab Democratic Republic or Western Sahara is a self-declared state that claims authority over the disputed territory of Western Sahara which is concurrently claimed and occupied by Morocco.

 

This map indicates the territory claimed by the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic viz. Western Sahara (the lower half of the section shaded green). The majority of this territory is currently occupied by Morocco; the remainder is named the Free Zone by the SADR it is marked in yellow.

 

Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) government-in-exile proclaimed by the Polisario Front for self-governance of the disputed territory of Western Sahara. It has been recognized by some 80 countries though a number of them have withdrawn or suspended recognition.

 

The Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) [e] also known as the Sahrawi Republic and Western Sahara is a partially recognised state in the western Maghreb which claims the non-self-governing territory of Western Sahara but controls only the easternmost one-fifth of that territory.
