The OpenVPN GUI says it cant connect to management interface. I checked the log file and then I saw: Code: Select all 2022-01-06 19:18:25 WARNING: Compression for receiving enabled. Compression has been used in the past to break encryption. Sent packets are not compressed unless "allow-compression yes" is also set.

After that also remove the TAP adapter via Device manager. Reboot and look inside the OpenVPN config folder (s) if the file is still there if so ...

 

The configuration of OpenVPN was delightfully straight forward and pretty much everything worked out of the box. The only thing wrong with the installation are the transfer speeds.

 

I just configured my Netgear Orbi router for dynamic dns and the VPN for openvpn using TAP. I downloaded (I believe) the open source version from the community download page and dropped the files generated by the Orbi in the openvpn config folder. I have a desktop icon for "OpenVPN GUI" and it show up in the tray and as a running service.

Then on the server side add a route to the server's LAN gateway that routes 10.8.0.2 to the OpenVPN server machine (only necessary if the OpenVPN server machine is not also the gateway for the server-side LAN).

 

By AviationAtom » Fri May 26 2023 7:46 pm I encountered this issue too but it had nothing to do with antivirus. What I concluded it was is a VPN provider's (PIA in my case) installer conflicting with the Wintun driver install. After uninstalling the provider's software the OpenVPN/Wintun driver install proceeded without any issue.

 

I am using OpenVPN GUI v 11.24.0.0 on Windows 10 and I would like to automatically log on to my server on startup. I followed the instructions and installed the program as a service which launches properly.
